One of the great things about coming of age in NW Ohio/SE Michigan in the late 60s,early 70's was the ability to see The Stooges in concert. Will just leave it at that as this has to do with the 8 track, but what a band. 8-tracks did not really count when the first Stooges LP came out but I was ready for their next,"Fun House". Had a nice unit in my Mustang and was buying tapes. Fun House was played often. "Loose" happened to be my favorite stop on the loop. At my friends house one day in 1970-71 an alcohol soaked party was going on, hosted by his parents and attended by mine. When we went downstairs to see what was going on everyone was pretty well gone. The suggestion was made that "We come on and dance with our mothers". My friend wanted to split fast but I had an idea. The stereo system was new and had a 8-track built in.We would dance with our moms, ok, but it would have to be music of our choosing. The choice was"Fun House", the tune,"Loose". Afterwards we were complimented on being "nice boys" for dancing with them. No one realized or could explain what had just blown through the speakers. I have never touched booze in my life.Think that party was why. Loose, TV Eye,Dirt, the play list on Fun House was first class.A great tapefor that time that still sounds fresh today..Not to mention, according to dealer friends of mine, perhaps one of the most sought after. Last one sold for low three figures. It is a tape on a whole lot of want lists, be it for listening or collecting. Let's get the Stooges in our Hall of Fame before the Cleveland Museum wakes up.
