I got this tape from John Wise and Lynne Alman last fall, and have had a lot of fun with it. The concept is simple: lock your parrot in a room with this tape running in your 8-track player and the bird learns to talk from mimicking the endlessly repeated phrases. It says on the label "14 Lessons Plus Training Method"; well, the tape was sealed and came with no training method (8-trackers were always getting ripped off this way -- no lyric sheets, no double gatefold sleeve, etc.!), but how complicated could it be? What a great use for an 8-track, though. Couldn't do this with an LP!
The tape takes on hypnotic qualities if you just put it in and play it -- it seems like it goes on FOREVER. I doubt that any human being could stand to listen to this from beginning to end. Might make an interesting torture of some sort. I like to call up my friends and leave the "Hey, baby" clip on their answering machine. Might be a good way to teach your child to talk, too, if you don't have the time (just kiddin').
