Notes by Malcolm Riviera:
The tape on the far left is my favorite bootleg artwork of all time. It's actually the cover for an Electric Light Orchestra tape, but like most bootlegs, the artwork was used for many different artists. These four geeks are supposed to represent the archetypical "Rock Group" in some bootleg tape exec's eye, I suppose, but to me it's just a hilarious photo. For one thing, has anyone ever seen a band that looked like these guys? They're probably just some employees of the bootleg factory ("Hey guys, take 5 and put on these beads so we can snap your photo for some cover art!"). I got this tape several years ago, and then picked up the other one, on the right, in late '95. I didn't even notice until I got home that THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE! They lost the curly-haired dude and replaced him with two swingin' biker chicks, but the other three are the same people. Now I'm beginning to think that they must be Professional 8-Track Supermodels. Again the pose really kills me (looks like they did this one in the parking lot), but I'm a bit confused about the concept. Are they supposed to be a band, or just some stoned-out "rock" types? Anyway, it's this kind of thing that really makes life worth living.
