This unit is both a cleaner and de-magnetizer. Our standard tests
showed excellent head-cleaning capability. Cleaning is performed
"manually" by way of a "jiggle" lever at the
back end of the cartridge; with a little elbow-grease and
cleaning fluid, you're set. The weaker aspect of this unit is the
de-magnetizer. This consists of a series of stacked magnets stuck
between the head-cleaning pad and the capstan-cleaning pad.
Although residual magnetic debris will be picked up by the
magnets, it is of dubious design and not likely to do an adequate
job of removing any magnetic saturation from the heads.
"I really dug the switch action! The switcher/cleaner is a blast to fondle, and does an ok job, but the de-magnetizer is a scam." Bob Schaeffer
