Hank Williams Live at the Grand Old Opry

Why Hank Williams? I was looking back through seven+  years of  8-track Heaven updates and we have never once featured a country & western 8-track as "8-track of the Moment." Considering the prodigious sales figure for country 8-tracks throughout the years, this is a terrible oversight! Mark Tidwell submitted this fine Hank Williams cart and here is what he has to say about it:

"I located this Hank Sr. track at a thrift store sale outside of the main entrance of the store in Pace, FL.  I'm a huge Waylon Jennings fan and since his death, I've been building my collection of Waylon 8-tracks. Hank Williams was a HUGE influence in Waylon's life and music. Hank Williams was, in Waylon's own words, "The King of country soul". I've heard several of the studio tracks but never "live." Now, via my Motorola player in my van, or the Pioneer recorder in my office,  I'm right there on the front row with Red, Hank, and Minnie Pearl.

This tape came from the RCA record and tape club. (Look under the picture of Hank). I was a member until 1986."

Additional info from Tom Wilmeth:

Glad to see Hank as the current 8-track! There is a very long and tangled history about this release (its vinyl counterpart).

I'll sum it up by saying that at least two of the performances on this item (never on CD) are not currently released ANYWHERE.

The currently available Hank at the Grand Ole Opry (2 CD set) is NOT a re-issue of this mid-1970s set, but a completely different release.

This is a good one to have in any Hank collection!

Best,

Tom Wilmeth
