The 8-Track of the Moment this month introduces a new feature here on 8-Track Heaven, the current releases page. For several years now, various musicians have released 8-tracks either on their own or as part of an indie label. Usually done by the bands themselves in small production runs, quite a few of these latter-day 8-tracks exist.
Estrojet released their eponymous debut on cassette and 8-track in 1995, and even included a bonus track on the 8-track version. This stuff is over-the-top punk rock, a "full-bodied noise flavored music treat" according to their press release. Recorded over the top of real carts, the original music comes blasting through at the end of the seven songs, so every cart has a different 3rd & 4th track. This concept has really grown on me, although the band claims to be using Radio Shack blanks now for the release.
