Notes by Abigail Lavine:
Leavin' On A Jet Plane goes Hawaiian? Although there's no date on the label, You're So Vain was a hit in January of 1973, and everything else on the tape hit between 1969-72, putting the likely release date sometime in mid-to-late 1973. But let's talk about the islands aspect for a minute. What's going on here exactly? This release missed the exotic music and tiki culture crazes of the late 1950's and early 60's by a good ten or fifteen years. And when you come right down to it, there's nothing all that Hawaiian going on. Oh, sure, you can hear a bit of Hawaiian guitar here and there, but the overwhelming sound is pure 70's session man. Smooooth. On the cultural trash heap, Enchanted Island should be tossed right on top of the Hawaiian episodes of The Brady Bunch.
