I used to own one of these, and they were really nice. Small, lightweight, but loaded with features. Full stereo sound, AM/FM stereo radio, runs on AC or batteries. Well made and reliable.
Model RQ-823
Known as the "pocketbook" model, the RQ-823 is another classic Panasonic design, and along with the Plunger, is one of the most sought after. An exercise in simplicity, this unit is mono, and has only a volume control. It came in many colors: blue, white, yellow, red, and maybe others.
"Boom Box"
Predating the ghetto blaster design by years, this Radio Shack player is made for the tracker on the go. Nice stereo separation, built in carrying handle, cool design.
I don't know anything about this player, but it looks really cool. Kind of a rip-off of Panasonic design, but also neat looking in its own right.
