Cart for the mini-juke box... one song: |
The Mini Jukebox uses a miniature endless loop tape that
has one song. It runs on four "D" batteries and was made by a company called
Leadworks, Solon, Ohio. The tape is put into a small slot on the front and a little
door shuts to hide the tape. When a coin is put into the jukebox, the tape plays and then
stops at the end of the song. Of course today it's all memory chips, but this was
"cutting edge" around 1980 or so. When the jukebox plays, the lights light up
and the little record spins on the turntable! The small carts are continuous loop and are
just like an eight track cart but only about the size of a quarter. There is sensing foil
used to stop the tape after it plays the one song on the tape. The pinch roller is on a
spring loaded arm, really a neat deal, 8-tracks should have that. The tape is very small,
it is 1/8 inch thick like a cassette tape, and is continuous loop.
